How to practice gymnastic equipment while on toddler gymnastic leotards

In order for your toddler to grow in the field of gymnastics, there is a need for support in the equipment that they will need. It is  up to you to buy all these to aid your child in her passion.

There are only few equipment used in gymnastics for kids. This is because they have to focus on one part at a time. They have to master one skill first before they level up.

First on the list of equipment is the mats. It may be very basic but it could give your toddler the best protection ever. Be it in advance or basic classes. Be reminded that you have enrolled your child in a tumbling class, which means that you will most of the time be rolling, falling or what have you. Mats provide cushioning falls and that’ s what is best on mats. Later on, when your child grows up, they will start to learn somersaults and barrel rolls and frog stands on mats.

Balance beams may scare you at first but when you get acquainted with it, nothing is scary anymore. However, this equipment requires proper balance and perfect accuracy while you’re child wears toddler gymnastics leotards. Coaches adjust the height of the beam according to age and ability level of the child. Some very young gymnasts just use the personalized beam mounted close on the ground to prevent high fall.

While women compete using uneven bars, men compete on very high bars. Starting for beginners, they will learn basic skills on a bar. Coaches will then teach you appropriate spotting methods so that as young as 3, your toddler can practice basic balancing skills, progressing to mounts, turns, twists and dismounts.

Only men use rings. However, as a beginner, your toddler can try to practice and enhance their skills using the rings where you put your hands on the ring and grip the part you feel you are most comfortable with. The rings require balance, muscle coordination, and most of all strength. Starting from a very young age, coaches teach the proper spotting method thus, enabling the toddlers to learn how to hold them upright, swing, flip and release themselves from the rings. These rings require a certain degree of balance since the power exerted on the left hand and right hand are almost the same. Moreover, practicing almost all of the  equipment above with your toddler gymnastic leotards.
